Social media can play a key role in your digital marketing presence for your small business. It is a communication tool to reach new clients and get your business noticed. Social media is part of most people’s daily communication. How often do you get on Facebook or Instagram without thinking? Most people do the same.

Relate to Your Clients On Social Media

Which posts get the most engagement and catch the user’s attention? Think about the last time you uploaded an image for your business that was personable. And by personable, I mean a post that users can relate to and/or get an insight on who the person is that is running the business. People love to support businesses owned by people they can relate to or have a personal connection with.

Imagine having the choice between two similar restaurants. You check out their social media pages to help influence your decision. Restaurant A has generic posts and maybe some pictures of food. Restaurant B is a little more creative, pictures of food, of course, but also guests, good lighting, and a photo of the chef at work. Which one is more appealing? Of course it is restaurant B. Therefore you and many others are more likely to choose restaurant B. Having a social platform that gives viewers an insight about your business is important to attract new customers.

Maintaining Social Accounts

There is one more key piece you should keep in mind to have a proper social media presence: account maintenance. Making sure your account is consistent by posting photos regularly is important, as well as interacting with other social media accounts. Users want to see recent posts updated at least twice a week with catchy captions and hashtags. Don’t be afraid to use hashtags, as they can attract new users that follow certain tags. There is no limit to the tools you can use on social media to boost your presence and attract new followers. Once you implement these basics, the opportunities for user connections are endless.

Communicate with customers, interact on posts, learn what they want and what they like, and then use it to create a much stronger marketing strategy so that you can transform them from potential buyers to loyal customers. Showing your personality and unique brand should be a given for any business marketing strategy and social media provides the perfect platform to share your personality and let people into your world.

So, how personal should your business get on social media? There really is no right or wrong answer to this and it will be different for everyone depending on what they do and their level of comfort. But a business that connects the most with its customers is a business that grows!
